One of the most effective ways to break generational poverty is through education. We offer tutoring sessions to children in a safe and quiet space at Nuestra Casa, Our House. Families gather to learn, cook, play, craft, find hope and support each other so they can create dreams.

Nuestra Casa
Nuestra Casa is Salem Dream Centers Community Learning Center. “Nuestra Casa'‘ is “Our House” in spanish, because it is where children and youth can find a safe place to find the support they need with their education.
Our Community Learning Center offers internet, computers, printers, supplies and more to help students succeed in school. This is were we hold our cooking classes, tutoring, art classes, game nights and more!
Study At The Edge
Study at the Edge is an after school study time, with specific days scheduled for tutoring. Youth have an opportunity to have a quiet & safe place to study where they have access to computers, printers, internet and school supplies. The impact Study at the Edge has had is amazing. During the pandemic nationwide 50% of low-income children of color failed in school, however 100% of the children and teens in our program passed and 100% of the seniors graduated. Today we have more than 400 college graduates, each first in their family to attend college. This is how you change the future. This is how you break generational poverty.
Coffee, Cookies & A Guest
Coffee, Cookies and a Guest is a wonderful function where the community can come together to hear from a guest on how their organization, business, or group can help the families. Guest present information on personal finance, renters’ rights, healthcare and much more. It’s an amazing way to equip and empower families to succeed in life.
Cooking Classes
Cooking classes offer a life skill that allows children and families to learn and cook together. Cooking is a unique form of ‘togetherness’ that allows math, science, creativity and tradition to culminate in a tangible need that serves our families. At Nuestra Casa, the family style kitchen is a comfortable space for this magic to happen without any concerns of utility bills or ingredient lists. Equipped with cooking utensils, modern equipment and pantry items, our cooking classes provide families to come together all around the art of cooking.
Art Classes
Bringing back art classes & crafts to our Study at the Edge tutoring program has been one of our greatest offerings this past year. There is something to art - whether it’s a unique outlet for the quiet, creative kid, a diagnostic tool to lean more about a child’s personal story, a mess to be young and careless, or a fun, and creative expression, weekly art classes have our kids thrilled to show up and get creative.
